How to deposit on Hyperliquid

Most people deposit USDC on Arbitrum: click Deposit, enter the amount and approve it in your wallet, paying a little ETH for gas. The minimum is 5 USDC; smaller deposits are lost. Email accounts can also send USDC from Ethereum, Base or Polygon.

Quick steps

  1. Get USDC on Arbitrum. Withdraw USDC to Arbitrum from an exchange, or bridge it there. Keep a small amount of ETH on Arbitrum for gas.
  2. Open Deposit. On app.hyperliquid.xyz, click Deposit and choose USDC.
  3. Enter at least 5 USDC. Deposits below 5 USDC are lost, so double-check the amount.
  4. Approve and confirm. Approve the transaction in your wallet and pay the Arbitrum gas fee.
  5. Check your balance. The USDC appears in your Hyperliquid balance, usually within minutes. Trading itself is gas-free.

How deposits work

Hyperliquid trades are settled mainly in USDC. Your deposit arrives as USDC on HyperCore, the chain's trading layer. USDC is now natively minted on Hyperliquid by Circle, and the original Arbitrum bridge still handles the standard wallet deposit. Once your funds are in, placing and cancelling orders costs no gas.

The 5 USDC minimum

Hyperliquid's docs state that deposits below 5 USDC through the wallet flow are lost. For email accounts, deposits below the minimum are sent to your email wallet instead of your trading balance, and amounts under 1 USDC are lost. Always send more than 5 USDC, and do a small test first if you are unsure of the network.

Getting USDC onto Arbitrum

If your USDC is on another chain, you have two main choices:

  • Withdraw from an exchange straight to Arbitrum. Many exchanges support Arbitrum withdrawals of USDC. Make sure you choose native USDC, not a bridged version.
  • Use a bridge. Hyperliquid's docs list options such as the official Arbitrum bridge, Across, deBridge, Mayan, Jumper, Relay, Router Nitro and Synapse. Bridges are separate protocols with their own risks and fees.

Circle's CCTP can also move USDC from other chains to Hyperliquid. You need the source chain's native gas token for that deposit.

Open Hyperliquid

Depositing BTC, ETH or SOL

Open Deposit, select the asset and send it on its native network to the address shown. These deposits land in your spot balance. To use them for perps trading you normally sell them for USDC on the spot market first (see spot trading). Withdrawals of these assets go back out through the same service.

If a deposit does not show up

  • Refresh the app and check the transaction on the source chain's block explorer.
  • Confirm you sent at least 5 USDC on a supported network.
  • Check whether the funds are in your spot balance rather than perps, depending on your account mode.
  • If you sent to the HyperEVM by mistake, Hyperliquid's docs have a separate help page for moving funds back to HyperCore.

Before depositing, also check the fee schedule and make sure you know how to withdraw.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum deposit on Hyperliquid?

5 USDC. According to Hyperliquid's docs, wallet deposits below 5 USDC are lost. For email accounts they go to your email wallet instead, but amounts under 1 USDC are lost.

Can I deposit USDT or ETH directly?

You can deposit several non-USDC assets, such as BTC, ETH and SOL, through deposit addresses on their own networks. They arrive as spot tokens, and you must sell them for USDC or USDT before trading perps.

Does Hyperliquid charge a deposit fee?

Hyperliquid does not list a deposit fee, but you pay gas on the source chain, such as ETH on Arbitrum, plus any bridge or exchange withdrawal fees.

How long do deposits take?

Arbitrum USDC deposits usually show up within minutes. Bridges and other-asset deposits can take longer, depending on network confirmations.
