How to withdraw from Hyperliquid

Click Withdraw on the trade page, enter the amount and destination, and sign. USDC goes to your Arbitrum address and usually arrives in about five minutes. Hyperliquid's API docs list a $1 withdrawal fee.

Quick steps

  1. Close or reduce positions. Only free (withdrawable) margin can be withdrawn. Open positions and resting orders lock part of your balance.
  2. Click Withdraw. On app.hyperliquid.xyz/trade, click Withdraw in the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Enter amount and destination. Choose USDC (or another asset), enter the amount and check the destination address and network.
  4. Sign the request. Approve the signature in your wallet. Validators then sign and send it to the bridge.
  5. Wait and check. Use the time estimate in the Withdraw window. Check the destination on a block explorer once it has passed.

How a withdrawal works

When you request a USDC withdrawal, Hyperliquid's validators sign it and send it to the bridge contract on Arbitrum, which releases USDC to your address. Hyperliquid's API documentation describes a $1 fee and says withdrawals take about 5 minutes to finalise. The docs say this was correct "at the time of writing", so check the fee shown in the Withdraw window before you confirm.

What you can withdraw

You can only withdraw free collateral. Margin backing open positions is locked, and under cross margin, unrealised losses reduce what is available. Withdrawing as much as possible while positions are open also brings your liquidation price closer. To withdraw everything, close positions and cancel open orders first. Money in vaults must be withdrawn from the vault before you can withdraw it from Hyperliquid, and some vaults, including HLP, have lock-up periods.

Turning USDC into cash

Hyperliquid does not pay out to bank accounts. To cash out, withdraw USDC to Arbitrum, send it to a centralised exchange that accepts USDC on Arbitrum, sell it and withdraw fiat. Always check that the exchange supports that exact network before sending. Selling crypto may be a taxable event where you live.

If a withdrawal is delayed

  • Pending: wait for the duration estimate in the Withdraw window. Longer delays are usually caused by network congestion.
  • Not in your wallet: make sure you are looking at the right network (Arbitrum) and that your wallet shows native USDC. You may need to add the token.
  • Funds keep coming back: if your address is connected to a Telegram trading bot, the bot may be re-depositing your balance automatically. Move USDC to another address you own and withdraw from there, or contact the bot's support.
  • Phantom and other wallets: Hyperliquid's docs have a separate help page for withdrawing to Phantom.

Hyperliquid support will never ask for your recovery phrase. Anyone offering to "unlock" a stuck withdrawal in exchange for your keys or a fee is a scammer.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to withdraw from Hyperliquid?

Hyperliquid's API docs state a $1 fee for USDC withdrawals at the time of writing. Other assets and routes can have different fees or extra gas costs. The Withdraw window shows the current fee.

How long does a Hyperliquid withdrawal take?

USDC withdrawals take about 5 minutes according to Hyperliquid's docs, but network congestion can make them take longer. Other assets depend on their own networks.

Why can't I withdraw my full balance?

Part of your balance is locked as margin for open positions and orders. Unrealised losses also reduce what is withdrawable. Close positions or cancel orders to free it up.
