How to sign up for Hyperliquid

Go to app.hyperliquid.xyz, click Connect, and either connect an EVM wallet such as Rabby or MetaMask or log in with your email. Wallet users then click Enable Trading and sign a gas-free message. There is no ID check.

Quick steps

  1. Check you are allowed to use it. Hyperliquid's terms restrict the United States, Ontario, sanctioned countries and some other regions. If you are in one of them, do not sign up or use a VPN.
  2. Open the real app. Type app.hyperliquid.xyz yourself or use a link you trust. Phishing copies of the site are common.
  3. Click Connect. Choose an EVM wallet (Rabby, MetaMask, WalletConnect or Coinbase Wallet) and approve the connection, or enter your email and the 6-digit code you receive.
  4. Enable trading. If you connected a wallet, click Enable Trading and sign the message. It costs no gas.
  5. Add a referral code (optional). Enter a code on the Referrals page before you start trading to get a 4% fee discount on your first $25M of volume.
  6. Deposit. Fund the account with USDC or another supported asset, then you can trade.

Before you start

Hyperliquid has no sign-up form, no username and no identity check. Your "account" is simply your wallet address. That makes it quick, but it also means the security of your funds depends on you. Two checks first:

  • Location. The terms of use exclude the United States (including US citizens living abroad), Ontario, sanctioned countries and occupied regions of Ukraine. See Is Hyperliquid legal? and, for Americans, Hyperliquid in the US.
  • Domain. The trading app is at app.hyperliquid.xyz. Bookmark it. Never enter a recovery phrase on any website.

Option A: sign up with a wallet

This is the usual route if you already use crypto. Any EVM wallet works, for example Rabby, MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet or a wallet connected through WalletConnect.

  1. Open app.hyperliquid.xyz and click Connect.
  2. Pick your wallet and approve the connection in the pop-up.
  3. Click Enable Trading and sign. This creates a key the app uses to place orders for you, so you do not have to approve every trade in your wallet. It is a signature, not a transaction, and costs no gas.

To deposit through the wallet flow you need USDC on Arbitrum plus a little ETH on Arbitrum for gas. The deposit guide covers this.

Option B: sign up with email

  1. Click Connect, enter your email and submit.
  2. Type in the 6-digit code you receive.
  3. Click Deposit and send funds to the address shown.

Email login creates a wallet for you behind the scenes. It is the easier start, and its deposit address accepts USDC from more networks. Hyperliquid's docs explain how to export the email wallet's key. Store that key offline so you are not dependent on email access alone.

Adding a referral code

Hyperliquid has a built-in referral programme. If you enter a code, you get a 4% discount on trading fees for your first $25M of volume. On a $10,000 taker trade at the base 0.045% rate, that is $4.32 in fees instead of $4.50. It is a modest saving, not a bonus or free money, and it does not apply to vaults or sub-accounts.

To apply it, open app.hyperliquid.xyz/referrals after connecting and enter a code, or open a referral link, which fills the code in for you. You can use our code POLYGOLD. Disclosure: Hyper Primer receives a share of the fees paid by users who sign up with it. Apply a code before you trade, because the discount only covers volume after it is set. Details are in Hyperliquid referral code.

Ready to trade? Check that Hyperliquid is allowed where you live, then sign up with code POLYGOLD for 4% off trading fees.

Secure your account

  • Write your recovery phrase on paper or metal and keep it offline. Nobody, including Hyperliquid support, will ever need it.
  • Consider a hardware wallet for larger balances.
  • Be wary of Telegram trading bots: some ask for your keys, and some automatically re-deposit any balance, which can make withdrawals confusing.
  • Ignore direct messages offering "support" or airdrops.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need ID to sign up for Hyperliquid?

No. The app does not ask for identity documents. You connect a wallet or log in with email. The terms of use still apply, and restricted users, including people in the US, are not allowed to use it.

Does signing up cost anything?

No. Connecting and enabling trading are free signatures with no gas. You only need gas when you deposit, for example a little ETH on Arbitrum.

Can I add a referral code after I have started trading?

The Referrals page lets you enter a code with your connected address, but the 4% discount only applies to volume traded after the code is set. Enter it before your first trade to get the full benefit.

Can I use a VPN to sign up from a restricted country?

No. Hyperliquid's terms prohibit using a VPN to get around its restrictions, and it may break local law. We do not recommend it.
