The legal situation in Thailand

Thailand is not on Hyperliquid's restricted list. Operating a digital asset exchange for Thai users requires a licence under the 2018 Digital Asset Business Emergency Decree, and since 28 June 2025 the Thai SEC has blocked unlicensed offshore exchanges (Bybit, OKX, CoinEx, XT.COM, 1000X) under the technology-crime decree. A further cross-border platform block followed a February 2026 criminal complaint. We found no action naming Hyperliquid.

Key facts

  • 28 Jun 2025: Thai SEC and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society blocked Bybit, OKX, CoinEx, XT.COM and 1000X under the Emergency Decree on Technology Crime.

  • Tax: 0% capital gains tax on crypto from 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2029, only for trades through Thai SEC-licensed exchanges and brokers; foreign or unlicensed platforms are not covered.
  • No Thai SEC action specifically naming Hyperliquid was found.

What are your options in Thailand?

If Hyperliquid or local law restricts this country, the honest answer is: don't try to get around it. Using a VPN breaks Hyperliquid's Terms of Use and may break local law. Look for derivatives platforms licensed by Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand (Thai SEC), and check back here: rules change.
