Hyperliquid liquidation price calculator

Enter side, entry, position size, leverage and the asset's maximum leverage. The calculator uses Hyperliquid's maintenance margin rule (half the initial margin at max leverage) to estimate where you would be liquidated. For large positions, use the lower max leverage of the asset's higher margin tier.

The formula

Hyperliquid liquidates a position when account value falls below the maintenance margin. Maintenance margin is half of the initial margin at the asset's maximum leverage, so for a 40x asset it is 1.25% of notional. The estimated liquidation price is:

liq price = entry − side × margin available ÷ size ÷ (1 − maintenance rate × side)

where side is +1 for longs and −1 for shorts, and margin available is your margin (plus extra cross collateral) minus the maintenance margin. Funding, fees and mark-price moves shift the real figure, so leave a buffer. Large positions fall into higher margin tiers with a lower max leverage (for example BTC above $150M notional), which moves liquidation closer: enter that tier's max leverage. Read how liquidation works and how to avoid it.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my liquidation price in the app different?

The app uses your live account value, including unrealised PnL on other cross positions, funding paid and fees. This calculator is an estimate for a single position.

Where do I find an asset's max leverage?

It is shown next to the leverage slider in the Hyperliquid app, and it differs by asset.
